Putin will fullfill his obligations towards Europe

Russia intends to fulfill its obligations to deliver gas to the European countries, but can not guarantee the transit through Ukraine, because it depends on Kiev, said the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"We guarantee full compliance with the obligations to European consumers. But the problem is not with us . The problem is ensuring the transit in Ukraine," said Putin.

EU urged Russia on gas supply commitments. "The European Union is a good customer. Acquires 70 % of Russian exports of energy," said Pia Ahrenkilde -Hansen, Executive spokesman in Brussels.

"We expect suppliers to meet commitments and is in everyone's interest that the energy is not used as a political tool," said the EC official.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin, sent letters to the leaders of 18 countries, regarding the economic risks associated with the Ukrainian crisis.

"In the recent months, the Ukrainian economy has been declining. Industry and construction sectors have been declining rapidly. Budget deficit is growing," Putin said in the letters sent to the leaders of Romania, Moldova, Turkey, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Macedonia, the Czech Republic, Poland, France, Germany, Croatia, Bosnia - Herzegovina, Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria, Austria and Italy.

"Ukraine's economy is heading for towars the incapacity of payment, production stop and massive unemployment," continued the President of Russia, demanding urgent consultations to stabilize the Ukrainian economy.
