Overwhelming number of Syrian refugees in Turkey
The number of Syrian refugees in Turkey welcomed the onset of the conflict in Syria has reached the threshold of one million, announced, on Tuesday, the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"The number of our Syrian brothers who arrived in Turkey has reached a million," said the Turkish Prime Minister, in a sustained response in Parliament before the MPs on the Justice and Development Party (AKP Islamic-conservative).
The head of the Turkish Government gave assurances that his country intends to maintain the policy of openness to Syrian civilians that flee the war.
Turkey, which supports the opposition, hosts mostly refugees from Syria in about 20 camps installed in areas close to the border ,in the south and southeast.
Prime Minister Erdogan announced that the Turkish government has allocated two billion dollars for receiving Syrian refugees who have cultural and security problems in areas where they are sheltered.
