"NATO has decided to block cooperation with Russia until June. And this was announced on April 1st" hoax Day, wrote Dmitry Rogozin, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister in charge of coordinating the military-industrial complex, the former ambassador of the North-Atlantic Alliance.
"Last time (in 2008), they were blocked for three months and by December were unlocked. That means it's a cold war, they freeze," continued the official, who appears on the list of people targeted by sanctions - consisting in blocking assets and travel bans, imposed by United States and the European Union (EU).
"Basic Instincts during the Cold War mwoke up in NATO and are powered by the rhetoric 'Alliance (North Atlantic) in danger!'" Wrote the current Russian representative to NATO Alexander Gruşko, in a message posted in English on the representative's Twitter account.
"Taxpayers seem that they will open their wallets to finance the military games," he added in the message.
NATO suspended the civil and military cooperation with Russia on Tuesday, in Brussels, in response to the Ukrainian Crimea peninsula annexation by Moscow.
NATO said it was "ready" to take the necessary measures in order to counter any threat of aggression, responding to the concerns of Poland and the Baltic states.
