Italy's PM ignores corruption scandal at Expo 2015
Matteo Renzi, the Italian Prime Minister, is highly motivated to continue with Milan's international showcase event Expo 2015 in spite of the fact that seven managers and the former MPs had been arrested in a corruption case scandal.
In hope to boost Italy's economy from the billions of euros in revenue the expo will generate, in addition to creating thousands of jobs, Italian officials refuse to back down on the planning and construction of the Expo 2015 which had been a six-years-long proccess.
However, a 600-pages-long warrant accuses the individuals in charge of the event of widespread corruption and bid-rigging.
The seven people detained had been part of a 'criminal ring aimed at influencing procurement' by promising public officials political protection and career advancements.
Over 140 countries will have their own pavilions at the Expo, including countries like Saudi Arabia and the Vatican.
