Hungarian MEP accused of being a Russian spy
Béla Kovács, Hungarian politician who is also a Member of the European Parliament, is accused of being a Russian spy.
Although he denied having any clandestine connection to Russia, the Chief Prosecutor's Office confirmred that Kovács was put under suspicion although he refused to say why.
'The Central Investigating Chief Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a serious crime, but this inquiry is classified, so it is not public at all.That’s why I can’t even tell what the crime is, I can only say it is a crime that the law punishes with a two to eight-year prison sentence,' said spokesman Géza Fazekas.
In addition, the Chief Prosecutor's Office has asked the European parliament to lift the MEP's immunity.
