Al-Qaeda leader's brother sent to trial

The Egyptian Prosecutor decided, on Sunday, to send to justice the al Qaeda leader's brother and another 67 people for being members of a 'terrorist group' in attacking on government installations, security forces and Christians, according to the official media.

Mohamed al-Zawahiri, Al-Qaeda leader's brother, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was arrested in August for 'supporting' the Islamist President Mohamed Morsi, who was deposed by the army in July and currently compares several processes.

The 68 people accused, created a "terrorist group linked to Al-Qaeda" which prepared attacks against government installations, security services and the Christian community, in order to "spread chaos and prejudice the security" of the country, said the agency named Mena.

Mena did not say which will be the date of the trial or whether the attacks occurred. Fifty members of this group are in custody while others escaped.

According to judicial sources, the investigation revealed that the group sent members to Syria to fight against the regime of Bashar al- Assad, before being ordered to return to Egypt on 30 June 2013.
