Toyota recalled for inspection and repairs
Toyota, the largest carmaker in the world, got recalled for inspection and repairs for 6.76 million vehicles in circulation, throughout the world, including the Yaris and RAV4 models.
The campaign includes five recalls for different problems and concerns aiming the 27 Toyota models, a Pontiac model and Subaru, according to an email sent by Toyota and quoted by Bloomberg.
Some models are involved in many of the 5 recalls, so the total number of vehicles to be inspected and repaired stands at 6.39 million, Toyota said.
The Japanese group said that they're not aware of any wounded or casualties, as a result of the problems that caused the recalls.
Faults are diverse, targeting wiring, seats or the starting system of the engine.
Toyota shares have fallen up to 5% on the Tokyo Stock Exchange after the announcement, but later returned, showing a decline of 3.8% compared to the closing of the previous session.
Despite the recalls, Toyota estimates, for the fiscal year that ended on March 31, a record profit of almost $19 billion this year and has set a sales target of 10.32 million vehicles. Toyota was the largest automaker in the world in 2012 and 2013, surpassing General Motors and Volkswagen.
