The recalls string continues for GM with 2.7m cars
Another 2.7 million cars are to be recalled by General Motors, mostly due to concerns regarding faulty brake lights.
The car maker has been putting more emphasis on safety after it had to call back 2.6 million cars on the basis of ignition problems.
'We have redoubled our efforts to expedite and resolve current reviews and have identified and analysed recent vehicle issues which require action,' said Jeff Boyer, GM's safety chief.
The car models which will be recalled are the Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Auras models in the US.
The car defect consists in the brake lights not coming on when the brakes are in use or the other way around. In addition, cruise control and traction could also be affected.
So far, GM had received several hundreds complaints regarding this problem and is aware of 13 crashes and two injuries as a consequence of the faulty brake light.
