Record number of wealthy Chinese
The number of wealthy Chinese has reached 11.97 million and at the end of 2014 will be 14.01 million, according to a report by Forbes China released on 16 April in Beijing. Most of them come from the financial, commercial and manufacturing areas.
The rich class, according to the international standards, refers to individuals with investable assets worth ¥600 000 - ¥6 million (equivalent to about $100 thousand - $1 million). Liquid assets held by them are cash, deposits, shares, funds, bonds, insurance, and other personal investment property.
According to the document, in 2013, the total private funds invested in China reached $9.41 billion, increasing by 13.3% over the same period last year. At the same time, more than 60% of the rich Chinese were aged between 30 and 50 years.
