PayPal protection covers intangibles
PayPal has decided to extend their buyer-protection services to also cover intangible products such as services and digital goods. In addition, customers will also enjoy a longer time to report any issue they might encounter.
The decision came as a response to feedback and, at times, criticism, from customers. Starting from June 17, buyers with a UK PayPal account will be reimbursed if items such as plane tickets, music downloads, car rentals, holidays and other intangibles don’t match the seller’s description or fail to reach the buyer.
Moreover, starting from the same date, June 17, any complaints a customer might have can be filled within a 180 days limit as Paypal will also extend their time limit for reporting issues from the previous 45 days deadline.
These decision ‘will give buyers even more confidence when shopping for products and services’ says a PayPal spokesman.
The buyers who will benefit from this new set of rules are, for now, customers with a UK PayPal account, more than 18 million, according to the company’s claims, who will purchase goods and services either from sellers in the UK or from other countries.
