Not even the M8 can't keep HTC afloat
HTC, the Taiwanese manufacturer was a step away from collapse a few years back, but it found out a way to dodge the “bullet”. Since then it has struggled to regain some confidence and income and it looks like not even their latest creation can't bring some growth.
The handset giant made a huge bet with the One M8 and the feedback was great. The smartphone was appreciated around the world by enthusiasts and critics and recorded high sales figures. However, overall, HTC is not doing well.
HTC has been experiencing a downward trend lately that was even to much for the M8. The company's revenue dropped almost five percent from April to may and a whopping 26 percent compared to the same period of 2013.
However, the decline is not linked directly with the quality of the handsets HTC makes. The first HTC One revealed last year was appreciated while some said this year's M8 is the “phone of the year”. It just looks like no matter the company does it's just not enough.
Another heavy blow for the Taiwanese company is the failed Beats investment. HTC invested a few years back more than 300 million dollars in Beats Electronics, but they have sold back their shares last year and their former investment was recently acquired by Apple for a jaw-dropping 3 billion dollars.
