New business idea: the store where you can borrow everything
Almost new drills, bikes for all ages, games, sets of glasses, shortly said, anything you can think of and you need at any given time is likely to be found in a 'borrow shop' that now earns land in many countries.
These stores, meant for barter between people who donate items they no longer use, in exchange for something they need, but who would not want to buy it, attract more and more people in Berlin, Germany, where such a store was opened.
The most 'hunted' items of the shop are the drills, according to The Guardian. The explanation for this interest? "A drill is used by an ordinary person, not by a professional, for about 13 minutes in total, then forgotten, so why spend money on this?", the founder of the shop from Berlin, Nikolai Wolfert, asks rhetorically.
Behind this initiative is, however, a more important purpose. Shop loan sites represent a way to draw attention over the consumerism that drives our lives and, at the same time, provides a solution to those who want to spare some money, make some space in the house by getting rid of items that they no longer use and determine more people to quit purchasing items that they barely use.
The concept is simple and is based on the idea of sharing the available assets you have with others toward a common good. To become a member of this community and to be able to borrow things that you need, you should bring an object to the shop that is in a good condition for others to be able to enjoy it as well.
From the moment the first shop of this kind was oppened in Berlin in 2012, similar sites started to open up in more and more areas of the German capital, but also in Kiel, Würzburg and Vienna, Austria.
