Greece jobless number smallest in a year
After six years of crippled economy in which the unemployment rate had more than tripled, Greece is slowly taking baby-steps towards a more stable economy.
The jobless total has fallen for a fifth consecutive month, from a record high of 27.7% to 26.5% of the workforce. This last rate is the lowest in over a year.
However, these signs of improvement are not enough to put a smile on the one million unemployed people’s faces the debt crisis created. Many years have to pass for them to be reabsorbed in the job market.
The unemployment crisis hit young people the hardest, 56.9% out of them being jobless, compared to the 23% before the crisis.
Still, after years of severe austerity, a beam of light starts to emerge.
