Global fast food strike
A wide-spread fast-food strike hit 6 continents yesterday after workers in the industry united under a $15 hourly pay demand movement.
Workers from McDonald's, KFC, Burger King and other fast food chains took to the streets in 150 American cities and 80 other cities from 30 countries around the world, including Dublin, Seoul and Venice.
'It’s a global economy, so they’re saying. Why not go overseas to make it into a global fight? They’re trying to create a global protest movement,' said a labor relations professor at Cornell.
Meanwhile, the National Restaurant Association dismissed the strike as 'a big labor's attempt to push their own agenda' by 'demonizing' fast food chains instead of putting more energy into 'education and job training opportunities.'
