G3 outsells the Galaxy S5 in Korea
The domestic battle between Samsung and LG has been for the most part won by Samsung since the rivalry started. It will still probably be so for a while because of Samsung's shire size, but LG scored a sweet victory with its new smartphone.
LG's handset took advantage of the troubled Galaxy S5 on the nationwide market. The G3 managed to outsell Samsung's device by more than three to one ratio. According to Korean media, withing the first week after it's launch LG was selling close to 30,000 units per day. In the same period, the S5 only recorded sales of 6,000 to 8,000 units per day.
LG's design and launch strategy helped a lot. It was probably the most awaited phone of 2014 and the most talked about. The phone stood up to its expectations and this helped a lot LG. The only question now is will the G3 perform on the international market at least as well as it did in Korea ?
