From China to America, 2 days by train
China plans build a railway that would take passengers from Beijing to America in just two days.
It’s a well-known fact that China is an adept of mega-structures, especially if these include anything train-related.
A report in the state-owned Beijing Time discloses plans of a railway that is to be built with the starting point in northeast China and the finish in continental America.
The high-speed, bullet train that is to travel on it, will pass through Siberia, cross a 125-mile tunnel under the Bering Strait, reach Alaska, cut across Canada and head towards the US.
The trip will last a total of two days and cover approximately 8,000 miles at a 225 mph.
What’s more, China wants to cover the whole costs by itself, although Russia has been fiddling with the idea for years.
‘China may be one of the best examples of countries that love mega-infrastructure projects, but even this may be too much,’ Lily Kuo from Quartz, estimating that costs would raise to as high as $200 billion.
