Ford names a new CEO
Mark Fields was named by Ford the next Chief Executive Officer. The announcement was made on Ford's official Website. He will replace Alan Mulally and take over as CEO on the first of July.
Alan Mullaly will step down after an eight year commission at the second largest US auto makers and a world wide renown brand. Critics say Fields will not have an easy job because of what the former CEO did. Mullaly arrived at Ford when the company still struggled from within. However some say he had to step down after Ford shares fell constantly in the last 15 months. “The most important thing for me right now is this orderly transition. I like the idea to serve, but I also like the idea of retirement,” Mullaly said.
The former CEO also added he did not give any advice to his replacement. “He is going to hold the values of this company really deadly in his hands. I don't need to tell him anything,” Mullaly said in a recent interview for Wall Street Journal.
Most specialists say Fields will not the time to get acquainted with Ford because he is facing some had decisions. Where is going Ford to invest next. The giant auto manufacturer is already betting big on China, Russia and India. Is he going to divert the focus to economies like Indonesia or Malaysia? However, he promised to go all in on new technologies like “green” development.
