European forces team up to create a drone
Military drones are the future of air combat and air surveillance. Although USA leads the way in this business, European countries are joining forces to create an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of their own.
Finmeccanica was the last company to team un with other aerospace giants on the continent to create a European drone. French Dassaul Aviation, German Airbus Group and Italians from Alenia Aermacchi and Finemccanica announced they have teamed up to create a UAV by 2020.
Finmeccanica's subsidiary company, Selex ES launched the first UN drone a few months ago. The unmanned vehicle was set to be used in peacekeeping missions in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The drone would be user for surveillance, especially in tracking armed groups movements.
This would be a third large project regarding air technology where European countries or companies join forces after the fighter jet Eurofighter Typhoon and the airliner Airbus A380.
