Dacia celebrates a car manufacturing milestone
Dacia car manufacturer has reached a milestone in its history. Two days ago, the car baring number 5,000,000 left Dacia factory in Mioveni, Romania.
The vehicle was a Dacia Duster 4x4 version Laureate. Equipped with a 1.6, 16 valves petrol engine and colored in “blue navy” the Duster will be delivered to a happy customer in Romania. Dacia builds in Romania more Dusters than any other model.
The Romanian car maker, a subsidiary of Renault is doing well on the European market. Last year, Dacia sold almost 100,000 vehicles in France, close to 50,000 in Germany and more than 100,000 in Spain, Algeria and Turkey all together. The bargain cars breached even the UK market, figures showing more than 20,000 units were sold in UK.
Dacia factory was founded in 1966 and two years after that it revealed the first car barring its name. In 1999, the Romanian car maker was bought by Renault. It was the start of a technical revolution for Dacia. The Romanian brand reached the 4 million marker in 2011 and it was a Duster. Three years after, Dacia breaks the five million marker with a Duster.
Workers at Mioveni factory in Romania celebrated the milestone by taking a group photo with the car.
