Bank vulnerability to hackers to be tested
The Bank of England will run a program this year of unprecedented testing of individual banks vulnerabilities to hacker attacks on IT infrastructure, according to the Financial Times.
The program is part of an extensive evaluation of IT systems from 20 major banks and other major financial institutions in the UK. The action will be overseen by Andrew Gracie, the director of the special division of the British central bank and restructuring credit institutions with financial problems.
The considered scenarios will use the latest available information about threats from hackers, terrorists and countries that act outside the international frame.
The 'ethical hacking' program will involve specialists from companies that are recommended by the authorities to conduct tests that are trying to break into corporate systems.
