Arcade games legal, after 32-years ban
Marshfield, a Massachusetts town, has finally lifted a 32-years-old ban on arcade games.
In 1982, two years after Pacman was launched, town residents decided that arcade games should be banned as they feared that they would bring an undesirable element to the peaceful city and disrupt the educational process of the youth.
‘This is a progressive step in that it protects life in a small town from an urban-type honky-tonk environment. The fewer distractions of that type, the easier it is to transfer my ideas and values to my youngster,’ said a resident at that moment.
Now that the ban is gone, 6 business owners have already shown interest to install games, although it’s not yet clear if they will also bring in the retro games that the town has never seen or jump straight to the modern-day ones.
