World’s fastest elevator - 95 floors in 43 seconds
China will have the world’s fastest elevator that will take you 95 floors in the time a present-day elevator only takes you 10 floors up.
The elevator is to have a top speed of 45 mph (72 km/h), meaning that it will climb or descend almost half a kilometer in just 43 seconds. Passengers will enjoy its benefits in a new supertall skyscraper which is being built in Guangzhou, China.
For the passenger’s comfort, the lift will incorporate top-notch technology that will diminish the physical effects of being in a vertical high-speed commuter train and offer an enjoyable ride.
Such technology includes regulated air pressure in the car to avoid any blockages and rollers that hold the lift from swinging side to side. Also, newly developed brakes that function even under extreme heat (up 300 degrees Celsius) will be incorporated to the machine.
The home of this tomorrow elevator will be, at 1,739 feet (530 meters), one of the tallest in the world and it will officially open its gates to the public only in 2016.
