Tech giants join hands to defend the Internet

‘Net neutrality’ makes the Internet speed, so far, equal to all but it is about to turn into some are more equal than others as the Federal Communications Commission plans to introduce a ‘fast lane’ for some customers.

This would allow content deliverers like Netflix to send content for customers who pay extra much faster.

The FCC’s plan sparked outrage among over 100 tech giants like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, Netflix, Reddit, Twitter, Kickstarter, Dropbox, Yahoo, Level 3, and eBay.

The tech companies all came together for defending the ‘net neutrality’ cause and signed an open letter against this ‘grave threat to the Internet.’

The letter read that: ‘Instead of permitting individualized bargaining and discrimination, the Commission’s rules should protect users and Internet companies.’

FCC commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel also has her doubts about the proposal but Chairman Tom Wheeler stands his ground and says the May 15 vote will not be postponed.
