More bad news for XP users
Microsoft ditched XP support about three weeks ago and all users still running the outdated OS are in trouble. Microsoft announced recently a new discovered flaw in Internet Explorer 6 and all the way to 11 that could seriously harm personal data.
The American tech giant released a security advisory warning all customers of the flaw. This breach could allow hackers full access over a computer just by visiting a malicious Web site. Microsoft said the flaw is so bad a cyber criminal could install programs, view all data, delete data and all this remotely.
“The vulnerability is a remote code execution vulnerability. The vulnerability exists in the way that Internet Explorer accesses an object in memory that has been deleted or has not been properly allocated. The vulnerability may corrupt memory in a way that could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user within Internet Explorer, An attacker could host a specially crafted website that is designed to exploit this vulnerability through Internet Explorer and then convince a user to view the website,” was written in security advisory published by Microsoft.
This is the first and major flaw discovered within the outdated OS after Microsoft ended the technical support. The latest news puts XP users in a bad position. The 12 year old operating system is no longer secure. Whether Windows 7 or 8 is undesirable graphically, to expensive or it requires a PC update, it is time to move on.
FireEye was the first security firm to reveal the flaw and call Microsoft. Allegedly, the exploit targets Internet Explorer 9, 10 and 11 along with Adobe Flash. Now the easiest way to avoid is to use another Internet Browser like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome, but the safest way is to upgrade to a newer Windows.
