Huawei turns group photos into ‘groufies’

The Chinese phone-maker, Huawei, has applied for a trademark for the term ‘groufie’, which is a panoramic selfie photo of a group of people.

The company’s trademark move coincides with this week’s launch of the Ascend P7 smartphone which has a front camera especially designed for taking group selfies, or groufies, easier.

What makes the camera special is that is incorporates more of the surrounding location into the photo as compared to the conventional front cameras which tend to block out people or scenery out of the photo.

As the selfie movement is as real and as popular as ever, one stands to wonder why didn’t phone-makers think of incorporating more permissible front cameras into their smartphones.
