Global warming: warmer or colder?

Global warming: warmer or colder?

A new study reveals that, although the world is indeed warming up due to climate change and global warming, the process is not uniform.

This piece of information took even scientists by surprise, highlighting that there still are unknown issues waiting to be examined.

'Global warming was not as understood as we thought,' said Zhaohua Wu, leader of a climate researchers team.

Wu and his team obtained their study results after examining the land surface temperature over a stretch of time of 100 years. The method used was developed by Wu.

Thus, the study reveals that the warming process began around the regions around the Arctic and subtropical regions but the hot-spot for global warming is at its peak in the northern midlatitudes.

The surprising element of the study is that, while some places were warming up, others were actually cooling down: ‘The global warming is not uniform. You have areas that have cooled and areas that have warmed,’ said one of the Wu team scientists.

Such a place is near the Andes, south of the equator, where, from 1910 to 1980, started cooling down and didn’t stop up until mid 1990s.
