Behold Acer's Octa-core monster phablet!
In recent years almost every PC or laptop manufacturer made a run at the ever increasing smartphone market. Acer, the world renowned laptop maker revealed a beefed up smartphone part of the “Liquid” family.
It's called the Liquid X1 and it's more of a phablet than a smartphone because of its shire size. The X1 has a huge 5.7 inch HD display. Despite it does not feature a full HD display, the screen is very sharp, bright and clear. Although everyone expected top of the range display, it does not appear to lack it, but it more than makes up with its processor.
It's “engine” is an impressive octa-core CPU running at 1.7 GHz. The CPU is helped out by 2 GB or RAM and 16 GB of internal storage a 13 mega pixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera. The internal storage is also expandable via a microSD card.
Most of users will not be so lucky to have hands that big to maneuver the phone with one hand, but X1 comes with a trick. Holding down the home button will automatically shrink the screen to four inches. Although the trick in nice and the display can be operated with one hand the device dies not shrink also and coolness goes away.
Acer did not comment on pricing or availability, but sources close to Acer claim the phone is expected to ship world wide in the third quarter of the year.
