Apple bites Samsung in Earth Day ad
Tuesday, on Earth’s Day, Apple released an advertisement saying that ‘There are some ideas we want every company to copy.’
The sarcasm included is more than obvious as Apple and Samsung have been spending a lot of time in courts over intellectual property rights.
Although Apple had been proeminent for many years as far as design issues go, taking the opportunity to snipe at its competitor on an environmental ad is hardly something worth praising.
Just in case the first line of the ad went unnoticed, the text goes on saying that ‘there's one area where we encourage others to appropriate our ideas.’
Apple is, indeed one of the most environmental-friendly companies out there, having received a thumbs-up even from Greenpeace for its struggle to reduce pollution and power all its offices and stores with renewable energy.
The fact that Apple, with all its efforts to protect the environment, took the chance to mock another company in an Earth Day ad, might make some feel that all its ‘save the planet’ strategy is yet another business tactic to attract more customers on its side while maintaining their clients’ loyalty.
