Failed kidnap attempt of German diplomat
A German diplomat’s car was attacked by unidentified men in a failed kidnap attempt near his country’s embassy in the Yemen capital of Sanaa.
Attackers opened fire when the car driver refused to stop at the road blockade they had put up.
Although the diplomat was shot in the leg, his wounds are, apparently, not life threatening.
Unfortunately, kidnapping in Yemen is not unusual as the country has been confronting with three years of political turmoil, beginning with the 2011 protests against at-the-moment President Ali Abdullah Saleh. He had been in office for 33 years but has, since then, stepped down.
