The half of billion euro business of Barcelona
The 2013-2014 season has been a bad one for FC Barcelona when it comes to sport. However, the Catalan club can't complain about their financial year because it has been a success. The club reported an income exceeding half a billion euros.
The famous Spanish club was involved in numerous shady transactions and was directly involved in a few scandals. But it was not enough to affect the club's image or the income. Javier Faus, Barcelona's vice president revealed the club's financial situation for the past season.
According to their official figures, he reported a 530 million euro income. After paying all taxes, Barcelona was left with 41 million euro net profit. This could sound small for a huge club like Barcelona, but the Spanish side managed to payback huge debts.
Since Javier Faus was named vice president, Barcelona in 2010 the club managed to end every single season on profit for a cumulated 113 million euros since. Even more impressive is the fact that Barcelona's debts plummeted. In 2010 the club had debts of 430 million euros. These shrunk to 280 million euros in the past season.
Despite being a world brand, in 2010 Barcelona was the 24th most valuable club in the world according to Forbes. This year the club was second according to the same magazine.
