What to drink in order to be more intelligent
Green tea not only has beneficial effects on health. A recent study has shown that this drink originated in Asia, increases the cognitive ability.
A study conducted by researchers from the University of Basel in Switzerland has shown that this type of tea stimulates the working memory. The discovery is very important, especially for patients suffering from cognitive disorders such as dementia.
Other previous studies also suggest that green tea increases cognitive performance, but there is no explanation for this beneficial effect. Recent research has shown that the green tea extract increases the connectivity of the brain.
Volunteers who took a green tea extract had much better results at the test, their working memory functioning much better than the volunteers who took placebo.
The subjects were then subjected to an NMR test to see their brain activity and the way it works, driven by the extract from the green tea drink.
Those who drank the extract had better connectivity between the parietal and frontal cortex of the brain, says Professor Stefan Borgwardt, from the Psychiatric University Clinics, for those who participated in the study.
