Cheese can cause...addiction
"But I could never give up cheese..." Have you ever caught yourself saying these words, or even thinking about it ? If so, you're not alone. In fact, this belief is so widespread that lately there have been various studies to observe this phenomenon.
From recent experiences, most people that adopt a healthy lifestyle, based on eating vegan or raw vegan, find it most difficult to give up cheese. In many cases there is a certain ease in giving up meat, eggs and other such products but cheese was the hardest thing to give up.
There is a reason for this, and is much simpler than many people could imagine.
Cheese is addictive. It doesn't have the power cocaine or heroin, or even cigarettes has, but it is, however, an addiction in the physical sense. Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine have made studies in this regard:
"In studies, when subjects received no meat, dairy or other unhealthy options, we observed that, in general, craving cheese is higher than other types of food. Although they can eat ice cream or yogurt, cheese craving is described as something deeply rooted."
The publication further explains how, in 1981, researchers found that animal milk actually contains morphine, a substance which triggers opioid addiction, with the ability to reduce pain. As every nursing mother could confirm it, morphine in breast milk is to calm a child and raise the mother-child relationship, satisfying the need to feed the child, assuring him the nutrients he needs.
