The royal young family in New Zealand
Kate Middleton was radiant in red for New Zealand! Making a much anticipated arrival, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge touched down in Wellington, New Zealand today. Kate Middleton looked gorgeous in a bright red coat and matching hat. She wore a Catherine Walker coat in vivid red—with gold buttons—and a Gina Foster pillbox hat in a similar scarlet hue. Catherine Walker was a favorite of the late Princess Diana, who wore more than 500 of the designer’s dresses during her public life. Kate's outfit was completed with a diamond-and-platinum silver-fern broach, on loan from Queen Elizabeth II. The silver fern is New Zealand’s national symbol.
Prince George missed the welcome ceremony, but he could have been admired by the public while the family disembarked from the Royal New Zealand Air Force Boeing 757. Bare-legged George was dressed in an off-white cardigan over a white shirt, matching shorts and soft leather shoes and socks.
All eyes will continue to be on the royal family as they travel the country—the trip is set to be based in Wellington, where the little prince will spend his days, while his parents go off on various day trips that include a boat race on former America’s Cup sailboats and a wine tasting in central Otago.
The royal family is scheduled to travel to Australia after their New Zealand tour.
This is the first leg of a three week tour. The royal family will visit thirteen towns and participate in forty-five official engagements.
