Robin Williams was into sports

The death of Robin Williams surprised everyone, but few know the famous comedian had close ties with sports icons. Williams was a big cycling fan and close friend with Lance Armstrong, but also with rugby legend, Jonah Lomu.

Many Hollywood stars collect fast cars, art or jewelry, but Williams used to collect bicycles. His closest friends said he had more than 50 in his collection from various periods of time. He developed the love for bicycles and cycling after getting friends with Lance Armstrong. Even after the seven time Tour de France winner was stripped of his titles and banned from the sport he continue to support him. He even used his names in his gigs. “I will always remember you as one hell of a friend. I love you and will miss you terribly,” posted Armstrong on his Twitter account.

Another odd friend of his was Jonah Lomu. Considered as the first ever rugby superstar also reacted after Williams died. “We became friends when he ended up filming Jumanji. I thought he gave me a copy signed of the book, but instead he gave me the original script of the movie. I will value this forever friend. Then we met in San Francisco, we had half an hour, but end up laughing for two hours,” Lomu twitted.

Williams was also a big fan of San Francisco Giants and season ticket holder and had other various sports icons as close friends.
