Paris reinvented: entertaining locations underground!

The most romantic city in the world has a huge potential for creating an entire new world underground, that lies beneath Parisians' feet.
The city's much beloved Metro is a century-old web tracks that crisscrosses Paris. But after paying more attention and taking a closer look, you'll notice something missing from the transit map: 11 stops.

These ghost stations sit abandoned like wrecks. Many of the disused stops were shuttered in 1940 during the occupation, while others — Porte Molitor and Haxo — were never even opened! Paris mayoral candidate Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, member of the center-right Union for a Popular Movement party, reimagined the ghost stations in a striking new plan. Guided by the architect Manal Rachdi of OXO Architects, and also by urban planner Nicolas Laisne, Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet has in her vision a method to reclaim these historical places and metamorphose them into functional public spaces.

Starting from the scratch, the first sketches reveal a swimming pool, a restaurant, a theater, an art gallery, a garden, and a nightclub underneath the subway's arched ceilings.

Her architect was thrilled about this splendid project and talked about it for “Le Parisien”, mentioning that this idea is breathing new life into industrial landmarks, citing similar projects in cities like London and Berlin.

The concept seems to be inspired by the similar case from London, that is Old Vic Tunnels, a cult-like venue that hosted pop-up art shows and concerts, all housed in a disused railway tunnel underneath Waterloo train station.
