I-giants keep on acquiring
Lat week everyone was talking about the Apple – Beats Electronics deal, now Youtube managed to push aside that deal. Allegedly, the Internet giant has agreed to acquire video game streaming service Twitch for 1 billion dollars.
According to Variety, it will be an all cash deal, but both sources declined to comment on the information. However, the same source claims the deal will be announced in the next period. Twitch.tv is a world leader regarding video gaming live streaming.
The concept behind it is very simple. Games can live stream across the Internet their game play and it looks like other people, fans, enthusiasts and games like to watch other people play video games. The service was launched in 2011 and immediately after, its success sky rocketed.
Twitch officials claim more than 40 million users visit their site every single month. Initially, live streaming was available only from PC, but Twitch made it possible also from gaming consoles like the Play Station 4 or the Xbox 360/One.
