World Cup expenses for fans
June 12 gives the start to the FIFA World Cup when, during an entire month, fans worldwide will storm the cities of Brazil to cheer for their country's team, party during the night and enjoy the sights during the day.
But how much would fans have to spend for such a trip? If they're in search for a budget holiday, with enough time just to see two games, they would have to pay $3,000 for everything, including flights, budget hotels, game tickets and other spending.
Those who want to stick by until the end, on July 13, however, may have to come up with as much as $30,000 for everything.
The prices for airplane tickets, even for low-cost airlines, have increased by 40% compared to the same period of last year, varying from $1,200 to $4,200 with departure from a US city.
Things don't get any better once you reach Brazil as travel agents warn that most of the hotels in Rio de Janeiro are already booked. Those with rooms still available book them for $200 to $500 per night while the normal price would have been around $130.
As far as game tickets go, prices range from $90 to $1,000 per game but fans looking to purchase a ticket to the finals should start searching for other investments as tickets to the last matches have been long sold-out.
To these costs, other expenses add up, such as transportation, food, beverages, souvenirs that will all leave fans with a big budget gap by July 13.
