The price of contemporary art
November of last year saw one of the most expensive auctions to ever take place in the world of art.
The New York-based auction house, Christie's, sold some of the most valued and most valuables pieces of art from contemporary history.
Artists like Andy Warhol, Franz Kline, Jean Michel Basquiat, Mark Rothko, Jeff Koons, and Roy Lichtenstein made it in the top ten list of the most sought after artists.
The price of the cheapest painting sold was over $11 million.

8. Gerhard Richter – Abstraktes Bild (779-2) (1191) - $ 15.314.500
7. Mark Rothko – Black Stripe (Orange, Gold, and Black) (1957) – $ 21.362.500
6. Andy Warhol - Marlon (1966) – $ 23.714.500
5. Jean-Michel Basquiat – Untitled (1981) – $ 26.402.500
4. Roy Litenstein – Nude with Red Shirt (1995) – $ 28.082.500

There is, however, one more painting that registered the highest price at an auction which took place in 2013 at Sotheby's.
