Taking on the automotive business
BMW wants to take over the luxury car market. The German car maker extends every year its range of models and it will be the same for next year. The Munich based company plans to unveil the new X4 at the New York auto show next week.
They call it a Sports Activity Coupe and it's basically a smaller X6. BMW has a great range of SUV's or crossovers. The odd number series with X1, 3 and 5 designed as full on SUV's and the even number series that will now embrace the X4.
On the European market, the X4 will benefit three petrol engines and three diesel engines. The cheapest X4 will go on sale for around 39,000 euros, while the most expensive one will go on to 50,000 euros. BMW lovers are already talking about a MX4 version with tones of horsepower, but officials did not release any information about a future M-powered X4.
BMW kept its number one spot for high priced cars ahead of German competitors Mercedes and Audi in 2013. Official figures show BMW sold last year 1,655,138 vehicles, an all time high for the Munich based company. The Germans reported a 7.5 percent increase than a year before. BMW is the seventh car builder in the world regarding revenue, and the second one in Europe after Volkswagen Group. BMW recorded sales of 76 billion euros in 2013, and the Germans expect them to grow in 2014 by two to four percent.
