Swiss refuse world's biggest minimum wage
The country voted on Sunday for a $25 minimum wage that would have been the biggest worldwide.
However, voters decided to go against the proposition, as preliminary tally revealed, with 76% of voters declaring themselves against the proposal and only $24 voting for the $25 minimum wage.
On the one hand, the proposed wage would have made life harder for the Swiss, especially those with poor skills or young people seeking a job.
On the other hand, Switzerland has been declared the most expensive country in the world to live in and people often complain that their wages barely get them through the month.
At present, Switzerland does not have a set minimum wage, each employee negotiating their payments with the respective company or employer.
