NCE turns Tesla S into a convertible
Remember the Tesla S electric car? Well, a few engineers that drive beneath cloudless skies had an idea. A great one and they said: “Let's put a detachable roof on this car so we can make it a convertible”. And they did.
The outcome is even more impressive than the standard Tesla. Newport Convertible Engineering took the mission and they did it. However, the conversion does not come cheap. After spending about 90,000 dollars on the car, any customer would have to pay an extra 29,000 for a soft top version and a whopping 49,000 for a hardtop.
Newport's result was so good, the American company reported a 100 Tesla S conversions from China. NCE even requested Tesla a 5,000 car supply to meed demand. However 120,000 to 140,000 dollars for the greenest and one of the safest soft top convertibles in the world is not bad.
Newport Convertible Engineering was founded in 1983. Since it's creation, the company has been focusing on converting small hatchbacks, saloons and even limousines. NCE develops and manufactures hard and soft tops for some of the hottest cars on road today such as: Ferrari, BMW, Mercedes, Pontiac, Porsche, Chrysler, Chevrolet or Dodge.
