Microsoft - doing better than expected
Microsoft is doing better than analysts predicted as it reported a net profit of $5.56 billion in the first quarter of 2014.
Although the figures show a decline when compared to the company’s figures from the same period of 2013, it’s still better than market estimates.
The company’s has been putting a lot of effort into cloud computing, efforts that seem to be paying off. Azure, a could computing product, saw revenue grow 150%.
‘We are making good progress in our consumer services like Bing and Office 365 Home, and our commercial customers continue to embrace our cloud solutions,’ Satya Nadella, chief executive, declared.
The company suffered from a decline of personal computer sales as users are more eager to switch to other technologies.
6.5% is the drop experienced by Microsoft, compared to the same period last year.
