Lower plane tickets price, higher fees
Cost cuts for airline tickets in the last years was an effective strategy. However, airlines compensate the lost sums by adding new fees for passengers or simply increasing the existing ones.
For example, the American Delta company made, in 2013, $833 million just from handbag fees, these being the smallest luggage you can carry with you on a plane, besides the cost-free carry-on. Other fees that make airlines rich include the fee for changing or canceling your reservation which accounted for 5% of Delta’s revenue in 2013.
