Internet advertising more successful than TV ads

2013 marked the first year ever when Internet advertising spending had overtaken broadcast TV in the US.

The extra budge that made the difference for online advertising were mobile ads.

Digital ads sales in the US raised 17% since 2012, hitting the $42.8 billion roof while broadcast TV registered a $40.1 billion revenue, followed by Clable TV with $34.4 billion.

The news that interactive has outperformed broadcast television should come as no surprise. It speaks to the power that digital screens have in reaching and engaging audiences’, Randall Rothenberg, CEO of Interactive Advertising Bureau, stated.

Mobile advertising registered the fastest growth pace in 2013, more than doubling its revenue to $7.1 billion in 2013, making it the third consecutive year when triple-digits had been registered within the mobile ad space.

Nevertheless, every major type of Internet advertising registered a raise of revenue, with Google and Facebook dominating the stage, both of them accounting for two-thirds of the total spending on a global level.
