Caught with a quarter million euros in his pants
The tax heaven of Luxemburg turned into a tax hell for a couple. Germans Customs officers pulled over a car near Trier for a routine road check. Although the elderly couple did not look suspicious police found 200,000 euros on them.
In the European Union any person traveling with more than 10,000 euros cash has to declare the money at customs. Obviously the couple did not, so Customs officers had to body search them. Their surprise was large when they have found about 150,000 euros in the man's underwear.
The money was taped to his skin in three bundles, two of 50,000 each and a smaller one containing only 45,000 euros. Officers found an additional 9,000 bundle hidden in the woman's clothes. Koblenz Customs officials confirmed the incident. “The travellers were asked if they were carrying more than 10,000 euros in cash and were told that it was an offence. They said they were not carrying suck amount of money”.
Now the couple was charged for smuggling and both of them are facing a huge fine exceeding 10,000 euros.
