48 million dollars for an ambassador flat
France's era of throwing money on estates outside its own borders are over. Now the government wants to sell its luxurious ambassador's penthouse in New York City for a mind blowing 48 million dollars.
The 18-room two story apartment is the property of France since 1978. However, government officials made recently some tough calls and belt-tightening. The lavish apartment has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms a large traditional kitchen a pantry and a huge dining room. For a greater experience it also has five fireplaces and the whole structure is located at the edge of Central Park in one of the most expensive apartment buildings in New York.
Before France bought the apartment almost 40 years ago, it was the house of Jacqueline Kennedy. Also famous designers and other big business men owned the place. Now France wants not a dollar less than 48 million dollars. Officials even said they accept a mortgage with a monthly payment of 225,000 dollars.
